The Great Lawn features an arbor of grape and wisteria, frequently used as the backdrop for exchanging vows. The meadow of the upper grounds is surrounded by magnificent magnolia trees, a 150-year-old tulip tree over 13 feet around, a deeply shaded grotto, and a picturesque view of the Magnolia Gardens Inn's outdoor spiral staircase and spire. Various brick and rock walkways lead to quiet sitting areas for the serene enjoyment of the upper grounds. Peonies are in profuse bloom through the month of May, and the magnolia trees bloom from May through June.
The Meadow on Spring Creek includes a 1200 square-foot
gazebo for use in receptions, banquets, dances, proms, reunions, etc. Next
to a bandstand available for performances, the gazebo overlooks the pond
with lighted double-spray fountain and scenic arched bridge. A 15 foot wide
stairway leads guests to the Meadow bordered along the entire north length
by a live creek. |
